This September the Bell is offering a unique, first ever, Poetry/ Pie Class
We’ll begin by listening to local poet, Pat Brisson’s latest work, in the lovely upper Level of the Bell. This will be followed by Elvira Woodruff giving a pie baking demonstration below, that will take your pastry making skills to the next level.
And of course, for our grand finale, we’ll be serving up some of the best pie you will ever eat, accompanied by tea and coffee. All refreshments and recipes included.
Pat Brisson is a children’s book author and poet (for adults). Her poems are heartfelt, full of wit, wisdom and sprinkled with humor. She currently divides her time between Phillipsburg N.J. and Rhode Island with her husband. Her many picture books can be found in school libraries all over the country.
LOOKING FOR THE SECRETS TO A GREAT CRUST? A DELICIOUS FILLING? A PERFECT PIE? This is the class for you.
I’ve been baking pies for the last 50,” Elvira explains. “There are some simple techniques that can make all the difference in whether your pie turns out just ‘ho hum’ or a thing of perfection. Of course, the crust is key. I have tried dozens of recipes, until I hit on the best, most perfect pie crust. It works for sweet or savory, rolls out like a dream, and anyone can make it.”
Paat Brisson and Elvira Woodruff are old friends who have teamed up to bring us a unique afternoon filled with poetry and pastry.
So come join us as we listen, learn, and best of all eat pie !
